Grand National Tragedy: Eclair Surf Becomes Fourth Horse Fatality

Heartbroken Trainer Blames Third Fence Fall for Traumatic Head Injury

Two Other Horses Succumb to Injuries Sustained at Festival

WEB trainer Emma Lavelle expressed her devastation on Sunday morning, March 10th, after her beloved horse, Eclair Surf, became the fourth and final fatality of the 2022 Grand National.

Eclair Surf suffered a traumatic head injury after a fall at the treacherous third fence, leaving Lavelle and the racing community reeling from the tragic loss.

The Grand National has been marred by equine fatalities in recent years, with two horses - Solwara One and Elle Est Belle - also dying during the 2022 Festival. These incidents have reignited concerns about the safety of the race, which has already claimed the lives of four horses this year.

A spokesperson for the Grand National has expressed condolences to Lavelle and the connections of the other deceased horses. An investigation into the causes of the fatalities is currently underway.

The racing fraternity has united in grief over the loss of these exceptional athletes. Lavelle, in particular, has paid tribute to Eclair Surf as a "wonderful horse and a true warrior."

The tragic events at the Grand National have cast a shadow over the sport, and raised questions about the future of horse racing. As the debate continues, the thoughts and prayers of the racing community go out to the families and connections of the lost horses.
